Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Buttery dough, plenty of chocolate chips, and cookies worth sharing. Save a little time for the dough to chill before baking.

What you'll need

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Grab these, too

A mixing bowl, stand mixer, baking sheet, silicone baking mat, and a 2-inch cookie scoop.

Let's bake

  1. Mix the dry ingredients

    Mix the flour, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips in a bowl.

  2. Cream the butter and sugars

    Cream the butter, light brown sugar, and white sugar in a stand mixer.

  3. Add the eggs and vanilla

    Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the stand mixer and mix until fully incorporated.

  4. Bring the dough together

    Slowly add the dry mixture and mix on low speed until fully incorporated.

  5. Chill

    Refrigerate the dough for 2 hours.

  6. Heat and scoop

    Heat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat. Use a 2-inch cookie scoop to scoop the dough onto the pan.

  7. Bake and rotate

    Bake for 10–12 minutes, rotate the pan, and bake for another 10–12 minutes.
